About
I am Johanna Reithmeier, I am a classical singer, vocal coach, actress and speaker. My goal as an artist is to create stories and reach a diverse audience through my work.
Johanna grew up as the grandchild of a singer in a family where making music together was a cherished tradition. As a teenager, choir and orchestra trips (as a violinist) became the highlights of her school year. At the same time, her passion for literature and theater grew, developing further through her first stage experiences in opera (witch in „Dido and Aeneas“), musical theater (devil in „Teufelswerk“, Maria in „West Side Story”) and drama („Kaffeecom“, „Julius Caesar”).
After graduating from high school, she attended the vocational school for music in Krumbach (Bavaria), where she completed a two-year training as a choir and ensemble director. This was followed by four wonderful years of study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in Leipzig, under the guidance of Prof. Carola Guber and Prof. Caroline Stein.
With a particular love for baroque music and Italian opera of the 18th century, she met the Kuijken family in 2018 during the La Petite Bande Summeracademy. Since then, she has had the opportunity to work closely with La Petite Bande on various programs in renowned venues such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Konzerthaus Blaibach.
Through her participation in the “Barock Vokal” excellence program at the University of Music Mainz, she was able to expand her repertoire and attend fantastic masterclasses with artists such as Andreas Scholl and Tamar Halperin. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Mainz in 2022 with Prof. Claudia Eder. Since 2022, she has regularly taken lessons with Neil Semer.
In 2024, she began her Master’s degree at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Mannheim in the class of Prof. Timothy Sharp. In the same year, she became a scholarship holder of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Frankfurt e.V. as well as the Johann Adolph Hasse Gesellschaft München e.V. In parallel, she continues her freelance work, including with Opera et Cetera gUG, the Papageno Musiktheater Frankfurt, and the Kammeroper Frankfurt.
